Event Design Support

Events are hard to get right

From logistics to strategy to communications. It's a lot. And meeting is one of the most expensive things we do as organisations and communities.

Because it’s hard, the substance and strategy of a conversation can take a back seat.

And maybe that's why most events are designed in a linear way, with presentations, keynotes, the same breakouts, the same icebreakers, the same Zoom fatigue.

And why meetings can turn into a treadmill of questions you need to work through rather than designed process to get you where you want to go.

Enter the facilitator. A person that can understand where you want to go and help you get there.

When we thinking of brining a facilitator on to help, we might imagine that they will hold our hands from beginning to end of a convening, holding space for us. I really love working with clients to do that.

But...

Personally, I don't think most meetings need an external facilitator.

You don’t need to spend the money, or introduce an outsider to a process, or miss the opportunity to lead your teams or communities yourself.

So what if you want the guidance and support to build a great convening, but you want to hold the space yourself?

You're in luck! I work closely with organisers to build agendas and prepare them to lead convenings themselves. My aim is to build the facilitation muscle of leaders and teams, and to support more great convenings.

I can help you design board meetings, strategy sessions, retreats, change management meetings series, community events, and more.

So how does it work? You let me know more about your event and give me just enough context so we can get rolling.

We connect 4 times.

  • more than 2 weeks away from the event
  • in a position to make choices about the event design
  • want to facilitate it yourself or with a team
  • interested in making an event magic

This is not right for you if...

  • you don’t care about the experience of participants
  • are looking for support managing or navigating logistics

At the end of our work together, you'll be on track to deliver a great experience and get things done. The design support package is $2,500.

Ready?

Let’s go.

Book it below and we’ll be off to the races.

I've got questions!

My meeting is...tomorrow! Can you help?

We prefer to work with partners who have at least two weeks before the meeting. But! We realise that you might be short on time for lots of reasons. Drop us a line and let us know what you are trying to get done, and we can do our best to squeeze you in!are working on something technology related (bonus points if you are a sociotechnical or cross-functional team!)

Do you have particular subject matter expertise for your facilitation support?

Great question! My substantive background is in sociotechnical issues. I am most passionate about supporting technology teams to do challenging things across disciplines, and supporting meeting culture development for people working in remote, technical organisations.

I'm not quite sure if this is what I need.

Understandable! You can either, drop me a line and let me know what you're trying to accomplish or you can book a call with me to find out. I only work with people I think I can help, so we can explore that question together :)

I’m from civil society, do you offer discounts?

If you are a grantee of the MacArthur TPI program, you might be able to secure this support via an arrangement we have with them. If price is an issue and you think we can help, drop us a line and we can discuss your needs.

How do I get started?

Fill out the short form above and we'll reach out with an invoice and will get to scheduling.
